Alina Chaudhary, a naturalist at Barahi Jungle Lodge, has been awarded the TOFTigers Lodge Naturalist of the Year 2024 for her efforts in wildlife conservation, sustainable tourism, and promoting women’s roles in the conservation sector.
The award ceremony was held on December 6 at Bikaner House in New Delhi. Among five finalists, Alina stood out as the only female recipient this year, marking a significant milestone in a field traditionally dominated by men, according to a press note issued by the Barahi Jungle Lodge.
Alina began her conservation journey inspired by her family’s legacy, including her father’s work in wildlife tourism. Since obtaining her naturalist license from the National Trust for Nature Conservation in 2019, she has played a key role at Barahi Jungle Lodge, particularly in birdlife conservation and initiatives within Chitwan National Park, the press note stated.
Prakash Chand, general manager of Barahi Jungle Lodge, commended her achievement, stating it highlights the contributions of women to wildlife tourism and conservation.
“The recognition not only honours Alina’s dedication but also reinforces the importance of empowering women in conservation and tourism,” Chand said.
