Rashmi Kumari Ghising delivered another sensational performance netting another hat-trick as defending champions Armed Police Force Club decimated Waling Municipality 9-0 in the Super League of the ANFA Women’s League on Monday.
Ghising found the net four times to score her fifth consecutive hat-trick of the competition at the ANFA Complex where Gita Rana and Saru Limbu also fired at will.
Ghising had scored five against Koshi Province, four against Sudurpaschim Province and five against Bagmati Youth Club in the first round, and three against Bagmati in the Super League on Saturday.
The outcome also helped APF move to the top of the five-team Super League with six points, two clear of Nepal Police Club and Tribhuvan Army Club—both of whom have four points from two matches. Police and Army played a 0-0 draw on Sunday.
The victory also extended APF’s winning streak to ten matches, reaffirming their status as title favourites. APF, who are looking to win their fourth successive trophy, are unbeaten this season as they had drawn their league opening match against Police.
The top four teams at the end of the double round robin Super League will advance to the playoffs, where the top two teams vie in the Qualifier 1 for a direct berth in the final and the third- and fourth-placed teams battle in the Eliminator. The winning team of the Eliminator will face the losing side of Qualifier 1 for the final spot in the championship match, which is set for January 29. The playoffs and final will be played at the Dasharath Stadium.
Ghising, who has scored a tournament-leading 25 goals, was unstoppable once again, completing her hat-trick within the first 17 minutes.
Ghising began the goal rush after three minutes, taking advantage of a goalkeeping error by Waling’s Radhika Oli, whose unsuccessful attempt to clear a low cross from Anita Basnet allowed the striker to slam into the empty net.
Rana doubled APF’s lead two minutes later, nodding in from close range after Saru Limbu’s header from a corner was deflected.
Ghising took APF’s scoreline beyond reach after just six minutes, hammering a powerful strike from the edge of the box.
Ghising sealed her hat-trick in the 17th minute driving home a low shot past Waling goalie Oli after Limbu cut back for her.
Limbu joined the goal fest after the half hour mark, adding two quickfire strikes.
The midfielder coolly slotted home in the 31st minute after Ghising’s deft thorough pass sent her one-on-one with Waling goalkeeper Oli.
Limbu then headed in a corner to make it 6-0.
APF went into the break with a 7-0 lead after Gita Rana converted a penalty in the 42nd, awarded after Bhabana Pariyar fouled Ghising inside the box.
Ghising added her individual fourth of the game in the 77th minute, firing from just outside the six-yard box after Basnet set her up.
Anita KC then rounded off the comfortable victory in the 90th minute, converting a pass from the prolific Ghising.
Police, the only other unbeaten team in the competition, will aim to maintain their record when they face Bagmati Youth Club on Tuesday.
