Four members of an armed group have been found guilty in the February 25 Birendranagar shooting case.
A bench of Surkhet District Court judge Manoj Shrestha convicted the accused for shooting at businessman Binod Giri in ward 1 of Birendranagar Municipality, said Ujjwal Dev Rawal, spokesperson for the district court.
Indian national Rohit Rajput, 19, 37-year-old Rajan Giri of Birendranagar, and Indra BK and Bharat Bhul, both aged 18, have been handed jail sentences following the court order.
On February 25, 2024, an armed group opened fire at the vehicle that Binod Giri was on board in Gauritol of ward 1 of Birendranagar Municipality, Surkhet.
Giri alleges that the main perpetrator of the crime was still scot-free because of the police’s negligence.
“The police have been avoiding the arrest of the mastermind of the attack, despite being aware of his involvement,” Giri said.
