The CPN (Maoist Centre) has quit the Karnali provincial government following a change in the ruling alliance.
On Monday, four ministers from the party submitted their resignations to Chief Minister Yamlal Kandel.
Mahendra KC, minister for economic affairs and planning; Bir Bahadur Shahi, minister for social development; Ran Singh Pariyar, minister for energy and water resources; and Durg Bahadur Rawat, minister for industry, tourism, forest, and environment, tendered their resignations.
They were appointed as ministers on April 30.
Kandel of the CPN-UML was appointed chief minister on April 9 with the backing of the Maoist Centre and the CPN (Unified Socialist).
But with the changes in the coalition at the Centre, the alliance in the provincial levels were also changed.
The two largest parties Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML reached a deal on July 1 and subsequently formed the federal government under the leadership of CPN-UML chair KP Sharma Oli.
The two parties are preparing to run the Karnali provincial government as well.
