Two dead in Humla jeep accident

Two people were killed in a jeep accident in Humla district on Saturday, according to the District Police Office, Humla.
The victims have been identified as 49-year-old Bishnu Pariyar of Ranja, Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City-20, Banke, and 5-year-old Abhishek Budha from Chankheli Rural Municipality-6, Humla. Abhishek was traveling with Bishnu to celebrate Dashain at his maternal uncle’s home in Nepalgunj.
The Lu 1 Ja 3043 Bolero jeep, traveling from Sarkegad Bazaar to Bajura, met with an accident at Puima in Tajakot Rural Municipality-2, Humla, Inspector Suresh Subedi said.
The accident occurred when the jeep, which had been stopped due to a gearbox malfunction, suddenly rolled back and plunged 300 meters down the road. The jeep was carrying seven passengers, including the driver. Five had already exited the vehicle when the gearbox problem was identified, but the two victims were still inside when it rolled back, leading to the tragic incident.
Police are investigating for further details, Subedi said.
