Two dead, nine injured in Salyan mini truck accident
All injured taken to Rapti Provincial Hospital for treatment, police say.Biplab Maharjan
Two people died and nine others were injured in a mini truck accident in Salyan district on Monday.
The accident occurred at 6pm when the mini truck was transporting rice and straw from ward 6 of Kapurkot Rural Municipality-6 to Sinbang.
Kapurkot Rural Municipality Chairperson Durga Bahadur Pun said that the deceased are 14-year-old Gobardhan Khadka and 12-year-old Anil Bhandari alias Dilli.
Among the injured are 13-year-old Khuma Basnet, 13-year-old Srijana Basnet, 35-year-old Nanda Basnet, 17-year-olds Jit Sagar Basnet and Sanjeev Basnet, 29-year-old Shankar Khadka, 35-year-old Dev Bahadur Basnet, 22-year-old Hikmat Thapa, and the driver, 24-year-old Man Bahadur Bhandari.
Police Inspector Resham Bahadur Khatri, the spokesperson for the District Police Office, Salyan, said all injured have been taken to Rapti Provincial Hospital in Tulsipur for treatment, with some in serious condition.
The mini truck reportedly fell 150 metres off the road.
Khatri said that while the narrow road may have contributed to the accident, the exact cause is yet to be ascertained.
