Seven involved in criminal activities held
Police have arrested seven persons involved in various criminal activities from different parts of eastern Nepal, including Morang, Jhapa, Taplejung, and Sunsari districts.Awadhesh Kumar Jha
The group arrested three days ago has been remanded into custody following court orders, police said.
Among those arrested, four are said to residents of Bhutanese Refugee Camps in the region, while the rest are residents of Sanischare and Sunsari, Dharan, said police Inspector Durga Dahal of Area Police Office, Belbari.
Dahal said that the group was involved in supplying arms and ammunitions and involved in organised criminal activities in Dharan, Itahari, Belbari, Urlabari, Pathari, Damak, Birtamod, among others. The group had been engaged in criminal activities both inside and outside the refugee camps in the aforementioned town and cities, Dahal said.
According to police, the group was behind a series of robberies, including those in Om Shankar Jewellers, Itahari on Dec 24, last year, Laxmi Development Bank, Urlabari on May 4, 2008 and a jewellery shop belonging to Ram Thapa in Urlabari on March 20, 2010, Inspector Dahal said. Likewise, one of the arrested was found to have obtained a Nepali citizenship under the name of Aaita Singh Paluwa by falsifying documents. It has also

group was responsible for the murder of Man Bahadur Tamang in Morang on December 4 last year.
