Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Ishwor Pokharel has said economic development and prosperity is the one and only objective of the government.

Addressing a programme in Tanahun on Sunday, Minister Pokharel said bot the government and opposition party should work in unison for economic development of the country. He was here to offer condolence on the demise of Tanahun-1 federal parliament lawmaker Krishna Kumar Shrestha’s father.

“The country witnessed a long political instability, hardly any government survived for a year,” he said. “Such an unfortunate series of events continued. But the instability has formally come to an end.”

He claimed the country will not fall into the vicious cycle of instability. He added that there is no alternative for all political parties to forge a common agreement and work together for the development.

Minister Pokharel said the government will be driven by the promises made to the people during elections and its annual policy and programmes.  “The government might not have been able to live up to the people’s aspirations,” said the DPM. “There may be lack of cohesion. But it will fulfill the promises made in the election manifesto.”
