Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the party will form a separate discipline committee to end anarchy within the party.
Addressing an assembly of the party cadres in Damauli, Tanahun, on Sunday, the Deuba said no one should defy the party code of conduct.
“The party has been marred by factionalism. We have sent out the message of unity within the party through the recently concluded Mahasamiti meeting,” he said, while urging all party members to focus on strengthening the party unity.
Urging the party rank and file not to be discouraged because of the party’s election defeat, Deuba called on the party cadres to be prepared to win the next election.
“No one could defeat the Nepali Congress if we remained united,” he said.
Deuba also claimed that the party statute endorsed by the recent Mahasamiti (grand committee) meeting was impeccable and urged former joint general secretary Govinda Raj Joshi to call off the special district convention against the charter.
Joshi has summoned the convention on January 22.
He also urged the party leaders and members to settle disagreements through dialogue.
