Nepal-India border to close for three days for polls

The Nepal-India border will be closed for three days in view of the November 20 federal and provincial assembly polls.
A meeting of security officials of Nepal and India held in Rupandehi on Saturday decided to strengthen security on the international border and close the border for three days, starting on November 18.
The meeting was attended by Chief District Officers of Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, and Nawalparasi West from Nepal, while District Magistrates of Siddharthanagar and Maharajgunj districts represented the Indian side.
A press release issued by the District Administration Office, Rupandehi stated that a meeting was held to address the border security issues in order to ensure free and fair elections.
Assistant Chief District Officer of Rupandehi Ram Chandra Aryal said both sides expressed commitment to implement various decisions on common issues including drug smuggling, human trafficking and border surveillance.
