School principal shot dead in Kalaiya
The victim succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Vayodha Hospital in Birgunj.Laxmi Sah
Rupesh Sharaf, a 38-year-old resident of ward 6 of Kalaiya Sub-metropolitan City and principal of Kalaiya-based Bal Ekata Boarding School, was shot dead by an unknown group of people on Monday afternoon at Kalaiya-Bariyarpur road near the main market of the city.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Dadhiram Neupane of the Bara District Police, Sharaf was shot four times in the head, neck, and chest by four people who came on two motorcycles. The incident took place at around 1 pm in the middle of a busy road when Sharaf was travelling on his motorcycle.
Sharaf was rushed to Kalaiya Hospital for treatment and later referred to the Birgunj-based Vayodha Hospital for further treatment. Sharaf succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Vayodha Hospital.
Sharaf was coming out of a restaurant and had gotten on his motorcycle when four people on two motorcycles started shooting at him, police said quoting eyewitnesses.
“We have arrested a 25-year-old local woman found to be involved in the shooting. We have the number plates of the motorcycles caught on CCTV,” said Superintendent of Police Surendra Kafle of the district police. “A detailed investigation into the case and search for culprits is underway. Further information about the case will be made public after the completion of the preliminary investigation.”
According to the District Police Office, this is the third murder in one month in the district.
