Former UML leader Bhim Rawal, recently expelled from the party, has pledged to launch a nationwide campaign exposing Chairman KP Sharma Oli’s “arbitrary and authoritarian actions.”

Speaking to the Post on Friday, Rawal, who previously served as the party’s vice-chair, criticised Oli’s leadership, stating: “I am preparing to systematically expose the ill-treatment I have endured. I will lead a powerful campaign against KP Oli’s arbitrary, despotic, and authoritarian repression. The activities of a political figure like myself will continue to progress politically.”

When asked about the possibility of forming a new party, Rawal responded, “A decision on forming a new party will be made after the campaign to expose KP Oli.”

Rawal was expelled from the UML on Wednesday, along with two other leaders, for opposing the party’s decision to construct its headquarters using funds donated by a controversial businessman Min Bahadur Gurung. The UML Secretariat decided to strip Rawal of his organisational membership, accusing him of issuing statements that weakened the party.

At a press conference, UML Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali justified the move, stating that Rawal’s actions had consistently undermined the party. Despite being elected as a party advisor following his candidacy for chairmanship at the 10th General Convention, Gyawali claimed Rawal failed to fulfil his responsibilities in line with party regulations.
