An elderly woman died in a tiger attack in Manahari Rural Municipality-5 of Makwanpur district on Sunday evening.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Shyamu Aryal, 72-year-old Kanchhimaya Rumba was attacked while cutting grass near her field. Her body was found later in a mutilated state, with injuries to her head and thigh. "The tiger likely carried her away and abandoned the body upon seeing a crowd," said Dipendra Adhikari, the ward chair.

The incident occurred around 100 meters west of the ward office.

The same tiger reportedly killed seven goats at around 5:30 am on Monday near the home of local resident Suryabahadur Moktan in Basantpur. “I heard a goat crying unusually and went to check, only to find the tiger attacking inside the pen,” said Moktan.

The tiger's presence has spread fear among locals, prompting calls for immediate action.
