RSP forms task force for constitution amendment suggestions
The panel to engage with stakeholders and constitutional experts across all provinces.Post Report
The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has formed a constitution amendment suggestion task force led by the party’s chief whip Santosh Pariyar.
The task force will hold discussions across all seven provinces and engage with relevant stakeholders and constitutional experts to formulate a public opinion on the amendments.
The Pariyar-led team includes Kanti Shikha Dhital, Nandan Yadav, Ganesh Karki, Sobita Gautam, Asim Sah, Toshima Karki, Achyutam Lamichhane, and Megh Ale. The party chairperson in each province will work as the coordinator for the discussion programmes in their respective provinces.
The party’s ongoing central committee meeting formed the panel as the present ruling coalition of the CPN-UML and Nepali Congress pledged constitution review and amendment as its major agenda.
The RSP, which is the fourth largest party in the federal parliament with 21 lawmakers (including suspended lawmaker Rabi Lamichhane) in the House of Representatives advocates radical changes in the federal system. The party, in its official papers, has advocated for drastically downsizing the provinces, among other things. It has not contested for any provincial seats in the elections and by-polls held so far.
