Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh has ordered the closure of 11 private hospitals in Barahathawa, Sarlahi, citing non-compliance with legal and medical standards.
The hospitals were sealed following an inspection on Wednesday evening citing lack of operating permits and infrastructure, staffing, or equipment as per the set criteria. Singh instructed the officials to shut them down immediately, chief minister's press adviser Anil Kumar Karna said.
The institutions facing closure include Sankatmochan Healthcare Pvt Ltd, Sanjeevani Hospital Pvt Ltd, Happy Care Medical Pvt Ltd, Sarlahi Golden Hospital Pvt Ltd, Unit Hospital Pvt Ltd, Venus Healthcare Pvt Ltd, Barahathawa Navjeevan Hospital Pvt Ltd, Hanumant Hospital Pvt Ltd, Bhuvaneshwar Dental Clinic, Jai Ma Healthcare, and Barahathawa Polyclinic.
“These health facilities were either operating without official permission, had not renewed their licences, or were running in violation of medical standards,” Karna said.
Santosh Thakur, a public health officer with the Provincial Ministry of Health and Population, informed that the written instructions have been given to the hospitals, requiring them to secure proper permissions, renew registrations, and comply with set standards before resuming operations.
Chief Minister Singh has recently launched a campaign to bring the proliferating number of private healthcare institutions in Madhesh Province under legal regulation.
