Three children injured in Panchthar explosion, two in critical condition

An explosion in Phalelung Rural Municipality-5, Prangbung in Panchthar district, left three children injured on Thursday.
The injured have been identified as 11-year-old Dipson, son of local resident Dilip Sanwa; his two-and-a-half-year-old sister, Prinsa; and their nine-year-old neighbour, Pawan Rai.
According to Hemanta Bhandari, chief of the district police office, Panchthar, Dipson and Prinsa are in critical condition and have been transferred to Jhapa for further treatment.
Pawan is receiving care at a hospital and his condition is stable, the police said.
According to local residents, the explosion occurred around 2:30 pm with a loud bang.
Pawan reported that they met with the accident while playing with a round object found in the nearby ground.
As soon as the incident was reported, a team from the Prangbung Police Post was dispatched to rescue the injured and transport them to the district hospital for treatment.
The police are investigating for further details, Bhandari said.
