Two people lost their lives when a jeep crashed in ward 3 of Pakhribas Municipality at around 9:15 pm on Thursday.

The vehicle skidded off the Pakhribas-Hile road and plunged 150 metres down, killing the driver and the helper, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Om Prakash Khanal, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Dhankuta.

The victims have been identified as 39-year-old Shukra Bahadur Tamang, the driver from ward 9 of Pakhribas Municipality, and helper Pramod Mallis from ward 5 of Lahan Municipality, Siraha district.

Mallik died at the scene, while Tamang succumbed to his injuries en route to Dhankuta District Hospital.

The bodies have been kept at the district hospital for post-mortem examination. Police are investigating the incident.
