Body of missing CTEVT director recovered after eight days
Three people had gone missing after a jeep en route to Khotang from Bhaktapur fell into the Sunkoshi River on June 2. Two bodies were recovered on Tuesday.Raj Kumar Karki
The body of a senior official of the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT), who went missing in Sunkoshi river following an accident on June 2, has been recovered on Saturday.
According to police, the body of Director of the Planning Division Yam Prasad Bhurtel, 56, was located on the riverbanks at Tapli Rural Municipality-5 of Udayapur district on Saturday.
The body has been handed over to the family members following a postmortem at Katari Hospital.
Divers had retrieved the bodies of the director of the administration branch of CTEVT Krishna KC, 57, and Bhanu Paudel, 32, an electrical technician, on Tuesday, some 150 metres downstream of the incident site.
The vehicle and the bodies were found after the flow of the river was diverted to reduce the water level.
The jeep driver, Krishna Chaudhary, of Dang, had managed to escape the incident by jumping out of the vehicle’s window in an accident at Laukun of Galjor Rural Municipality along the Khurkot-Ghurmi road section of the Mid-Hill Highway.
