A 28-year-old man killed his wife with an axe in Makwanpur on Monday evening.

Mangal Bahadur Pakhrin of Kailash Rural Municipality-5 killed his 18-year-old wife Laxmi Pakhrin, the ward chairman said.

Pakhrin, who was on medication for mental illness, attacked his wife Laxmi on the head and neck, he said.

The couple has a 13-month-old daughter.

Meanwhile, 58-year-old Lal Bahadur Ghimire BK of Hariharpur Gadhi-7, Sindhuli was stabbed to death by his 21-year-old son while he was sleeping, police said.

The body of Lal Bahadur has been brought to Sindhuli Hospital for a post-mortem on Tuesday.

Amrit, who killed his father, has been taken into custody.

Although the preliminary investigation shows that the accused had disputes over property partition, the real cause of murder is not clear yet, Govinda Raj Kafle, chief of Sindhuli police said.
