Five dead, three injured in Ramechhap jeep crash

Five people were killed, and three others were injured in a jeep accident in Gokulganga Rural Municipality, Ramechhap, on Friday.
The jeep, travelling from Kathmandu to Betali in the rural municipality, skidded off the road and plunged 300 meters down into a ravine, according to police.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Pradeep Kumar Singh of the District Police Office, Ramechhap, said 45-year-old Ramchandra Basnet, the chairperson of ward 4 of Gokulganga, is among the deceased.
Also killed were 30-year-old Kavita Karki Khadka and her 7-year-old daughter Swastika Khadka, both from ward 5 of Gokulganga, and the 35-year-old driver, Hira Bahadur Karki, from ward 10 of Manthali Municipality.
Another victim’s identity remains unknown, police said.
The injured include 27-year-old Saraswati Karki from ward 4 of Gokulganga, a 4-year-old child, and 42-year-old Keshav Sharma of Lekhnath Municipality, Kaski. They were rescued and taken to the district headquarters, Manthali, for treatment.
