A student has accused his school principal of physical assault on Sunday for not adhering to the school uniform rules while in school.
A 16-year-old eighth-grader was allegedly beaten up by the principal of Golden Future English School in Rohini Rural Municipality of Rupandehi district. The student has sustained injuries at the hands of the school principal who beat him up for wearing a jacket over his school uniform, the student’s uncle Sarjun Gupta claims.
The student on December 17 had worn a jacket, not a part of the school uniform, over his uniform to stay warm. The school students are supposed to be wearing a blue sweater during winters but the students are yet to receive the sweater from the school as part of the uniform, said Gupta.
Gupta had lodged a complaint against the principal at the rural municipality’s educational department.
“This is not the first time the principal has physically assaulted students. We had turned a blind eye before thinking of such incidents as disciplinary actions,” Gupta said. “But now we’re seeking legal action against the principal.”
Department head Madhu Prasad Ghimire has sought clarification from the school principal in regard to the incident.
The school principal has denied all accusations stating that the student argued with him and held him by the collar of his shirt. The student was injured when he tried to remove the student’s hold, claimed the principal.
