33 schools participate in inter-school hackathon

A total of 235 students from 33 schools are participating in a hackathon under the theme ‘The future of learning’ aimed at tackling educational challenges in Nepal.
The event is being organised by Adhyayan School and Leapfrog Technology in collaboration with Code for Nepal and Veda, in Kathmandu.
The hackathon comprises an orientation, a boot camp, a mentorship phase, and demo day, spanning from January 26 to February 19, according to the organisers.
It officially commenced with an orientation session on January 26 at Leapfrog Technology. Students from grades 7 to 10 harness the power of Scratch and Python to develop innovative solutions addressing issues in education, health, and society, under the guidance of 32 expert mentors, the organisers said.
On the final day, the top seven teams will present their projects at Rastriya Nachghar, where the winners will be awarded cash prizes of Rs100,000; Rs75,000; and Rs50,000 respectively.
The event is being held with an objective to foster creativity, problem-solving skills and broaden understanding about social responsibility in young students, the organisers said.
