In the hills of Rukum East lies the enchanting grassland, renowned for its immense natural beauty. It is a place where flocks of sheep graze in the grassland, and the bustling activity of herders fills the air. Located in Putha Uttarganga Rural Municipality -11, this serene grassland captivates visitors annually.
Local Hari Sunar Sunar said they bring their sheep to the grassland every monsoon. “We come here with our sheep, as well as cows and horses, to graze on the lush grass of the monsoon. We usually arrive at the end of mid-July and descend in mid-September,” he said.
The grassland, situated around 4,000 meters above sea level, offers stunning views of the Himalayan range towards the north. During the monsoon season, it becomes a verdant, lush area with colourful grassland that extends like a thick carpet. In winter, it becomes a tranquil, snowy wonderland covered in a delicate blanket of white. The grassland’s allure endures throughout the year.
