Heavy rainfall on September 26 triggered floods and landslides, causing widespread destruction to settlements near the Roshi River.

The disaster claimed 20 lives in Panauti alone, with 500 houses destroyed and 713 more partially damaged. Over 2,000 livestock were lost to the floods and landslides.

Roads and access routes were washed away, and hundreds of ropani of crops were wiped out in the disaster.
