Dashain has officially begun with Ghatasthapana, the first day of the festival being marked today.
People residing in the capital are eager to leave for their homes to celebrate the festival with their family members and relatives.
However, disruption of vehicular movement on several highways and other link roads has made travel challenging.
The BP Highway, which is a shorter route to connect eastern Nepal and the Kathmandu Valley, has been disrupted as the recent floods badly damaged the road in Kavre.
Everyone planning to travel to and from Kathmandu and the eastern part of the country is concerned about the reopening of the Nepalthok-Dhulikhel section of the BP Highway.
The one-way traffic has been resumed by clearing landslide debris along 34 kilometres of the Khurkot Nepalthok road, out of the 84 kilometres of the Khurkot-Nepalthok-Dhulikhel road damaged by floods and landslides of Roshikhola and Sunkoshi.
The Road Division Office Khalte and Sunkoshi Rural Municipality are using excavators, JCVs, and dozers to create a diversion on the highway.
Here are some of the pictures captured by the Post reporter Raj Kumar Karki while efforts were being made to open the road section.
