On the auspicious occasion of Nawami, the ninth day of the two-week-long Dashain festival, devotees gather in long queues at Hanumandhoka, Kathmandu, to visit the revered Taleju Temple.

The temple, normally closed to the public, opens its doors for one day each year on Nawami, offering devotees a rare chance to pay homage inside its sacred grounds.

The day is marked by significant religious rituals, including the sacrifice of over 100 cattle, a tradition believed to honour the goddess Taleju.

Thousands of devotees eagerly wait for their turn to enter the temple, seeking blessings during this special occasion.
