Armed Police Force (APF) have once again been crowned champions of the ANFA Women’s League after a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Nepal Police Club in the play-off final at Dasarath Stadium on Wednesday.
The defending champions continued their unbeaten run throughout the tournament, clinching the title without losing a single match. APF, who topped both the first and second phases of the league, sealed their 18th consecutive win in style.
Although Police managed to hold APF to a goalless draw in the first half, they were unable to withstand the relentless pressure in the second. Sabita Ranagamar was the standout performer, scoring twice, while Saru Limbu and Anu Lama each added a goal to secure the emphatic win.
Sabita broke the deadlock in the 64th minute with a clinical finish after a brilliant pass, while Saru doubled the lead just five minutes later. A shot from Renuka Nagarkoti hit the post, but Saru capitalised on the rebound to score.
Sabita netted her second goal in the 83rd minute, courtesy of a well-timed assist from Preeti Rai. In injury time, Anu Lama rounded off the scoring to make it 4-0.
This victory marks APF’s continued dominance in the competition, with the club remaining unbeaten since 2068 in the Women’s League. Although official statistics are unclear, APF are widely regarded as the four-time defending champions of the league.
In an emotional moment, Anu Lama announced her retirement from football after the final. The veteran player, who came on as a substitute towards the end of the match, has hung up her boots following an illustrious career.
