At least five people died in a road accident in Sadhid Lakhan Rural Municipality in Gorkha district. Twelve others were injured in the incident.

According to the police, the accident occurred when the jeep returning from Pokhari Hill fell some 250 metres off the road in a turning at Siling in the rural municipality.

Police informed that four men and one woman had died in the accident.

“The identities of the deceased are yet to be ascertained,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police Leela Raj Lamichhane of the District Police Office, Gorkha. “The injured are undergoing treatment at Aanbukhaireni in Tanahun district.”

Lamichhane informed that there were 19 people aboard the jeep and only two passengers escaped the incident without any serious injuries.

Personnel from the Nepal Army, Armed Police Forces, Nepal Police and locals are currently conducting rescue at the accident site.
