Nepal’s Ministry of Health and Population has appointed actress Manisha Koirala as the Goodwill Ambassador for the HPV vaccine campaign. The government has selected the renowned actress to help promote the national vaccination programme and raise awareness about the importance of the HPV vaccine.
During a ceremony held at the ministry, Health Minister Pradip Paudel said that the nationwide campaign aims to administer the HPV vaccine to 1.6 million girls aged 10 to 14. He stated that the vaccine would be available through schools, with students from grades 6 to 10 being the primary recipients. For those who are not enrolled in school during the vaccination period, the vaccine will be provided at local ward offices.
Minister Paudel also noted that Koirala will remain the goodwill ambassador for all vaccination campaigns conducted by the ministry over the next three years. He expressed confidence that her involvement would help make the HPV vaccine campaign a success.
At the event, Koirala shared her enthusiasm about joining the initiative, expressing her happiness at being part of such an important health campaign. She also emphasised the significance of the HPV vaccine in preventing cervical cancer and encouraged everyone to participate in the campaign.
