Four killed in Kalikot tractor accident

Four people, including the driver, died after a tractor veered off the road and plunged down a slope in ward 2 of Palata Rural Municipality, Kalikot, on Sunday night.
The tractor was heading to Chhallaha from Thirpu in ward 9 of the rural municipality, carrying groceries and food supplies, when it crashed at around 11:30pm at Raduneta Larf, according to police.
District Police Chief Tek Bahadur Rawat said the victims have been identified as 25-year-old driver Chandra Prakash Rokaya of Mugu; 26-year-old Amba Shahi of Palata-5; and 21-year-olds Sadu Budha and Rabindra BK, both from Palata-4.
A police team led by Senior Head Constable Gagan Rawat from the temporary post at Kahardev reached the crash site the same night, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Rawat.
According to him, the tractor’s registration number could not be identified as the vehicle was badly damaged, and its registration book was also missing. The engine was found around 200 metres below the road, while the trolley had plunged nearly 600 metres down into a ravine.
