A female Nepali migrant worker stabbed her colleague to death in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates on Thursday.Three other women were injured in the incident. The deceased Nepali migrant worker has been identified as Srijana Baral.
According to Nepali Embassy in Abu Dhabi, inebriated Sabita Tamang attacked her colleagues with a knife following a dispute on the premises of their workplace. They were the staffers of Cleaning Service of Tangif.
“Sabita armed with a knife went on a rampage and attacked the three women after consuming alcohol during the weekend,” the company said.
Acting Ambassador of Nepal to UAE Sagar Phuyal said that Tamang has been arrested for investigation. Mamata Chaudhary, who was critically injured in the incident, is undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Asha Darji and Salina Magar, who sustained minor injuries in the attack, have already returned to the camp after primary treatment.
Following the incident, all the four women were taken to the Al Qassimi Hospital. Baral breathed her last during the course of treatment on Saturday night. Acting Ambassador Phuyal said the incident was really sad.
“The incident was saddening as it occurred during the weekend,” he said, adding, “Everyone should be descent and organised while celebrating any kind of gathering.”
Around 300 men and 200 women work in the same company.
