Police arrest three members of underground outfit

Police have busted an underground outfit allegedly involved in a series of bomb explosions in Rupandehi district and arrested three of its members.
Abdul Hakim Khan of Siyari Rural Municipality-4, Suraj Lohar of Kotahimai Rural Municipality-3 and Suraj Tharu of Kotahimai-4 were paraded at a press meet on Thursday.
Superintendent of Police Bharat Bahadur BK said a case has been registered against them for the offence related to explosives under the criminal code and the trio was remanded to five days of judicial custody by Rupandehi District Court.
Police also seized two motorcycles and five mobile sets from the accused.
They are accused of planting an improvised explosive device outside the house of Siyari Rural Municipality chair on April 15. A team of Nepal Army and Nepal Police personnel had disposed of multiple improvised explosive devices (IED) prepared by using a pressure cooker.
Likewise, an improvised explosive device went off outside the compound wall of a feed factory on June 16. Another improvised explosive device exploded at a field in Maya Devi Rural Municipality-8 on the same day.
SP BK said they are associated with Madhesh People’s Party, an underground outfit and had also demanded money from the rural municipality chair and feed factory owner.
