Landslide blocks Prithvi Highway
Authorities urge travellers to use alternative routes.Samjhana Rasaili
A landslide has blocked the Damauli-Dumre section of the Prithvi Highway in Vyas Municipality-12, Tanahun district, since Wednesday evening.
The mudslide, originating from approximately 50 meters above the highway, has completely obstructed both lanes of the road.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar Rai said efforts to clear the debris began around 7:45 am on Thursday.
However, the huge scale of the landslide is likely to delay the reopening of the road.
Authorities have urged motorists to use alternative routes. Small and medium vehicles are advised to travel through Damauli to Talghare and rejoin the highway via Ranigaun, or alternatively, take the Ranigaun-Ghansikuwa route towards Dumre, Tanahun.
Heavy vehicles are recommended to take the Dumre-Besisahar-Lamjung road to reach Pokhara.
