A dry landslide has completely obstructed the BP Highway at Pipley, Roshi Rural Municipality-11, in Kavre. The mudslide blocked the road at around 3:00 am on Friday, according to the Kavre District Police Office.
The landslide hit a vehicle, a Na 1 Ja 6817 Sumo, travelling from Khotang towards Kathmandu. The rear portion of the vehicle remains visible beneath the debris, reported Senior Superintendent of Police Basundhara Khadka from the district police. In another incident, a Ba 4 Kha 4352 bus travelling from Sindhuli to Kathmandu was swept 20 metres down into the Roshi River. Fortunately, there were no human casualties in either accident, she confirmed.
The police have urged travellers to avoid the BP Highway, particularly at Pipley and other sections, as landslides continue to occur, blocking both directions of the road. The police have also warned against travelling via the Namobuddha-Mangaltar route, as it remains inaccessible due to frequent landslides.
