President Ramchandra Paudel has called for greater efforts to strengthen federalism, good governance, and the rule of law in Nepal. Speaking at the handover of the Pokhara declaration during a meeting at the Office of the President in Sheetal Niwas on Tuesday, Paudel highlighted the crucial role Parliament must play in holding the government accountable and responsive to the people.
“Federalism, good governance, and the rule of law must be reinforced, and to achieve this, the role of Parliament must be more effective in making the government responsible and accountable to the people,” he said.
The President urged Parliament’s leadership to address these issues and work towards developing Parliament into a platform that truly represents the voice of the people.
“I expect more from you in the coming days to develop a competent, responsible, and people-focused Parliament, learning from parliamentary practices,” President Paudel said.
The President remarked that the Parliament should establish itself as a forum for creating effective laws, budgeting, and formulating policies that amplify the voices of the people. He also advocated for the construction of an inclusive, long-term, and development-friendly legal framework through the federal parliament.
