Six arrested for scamming Rs8.5 million under the guise of overseas employment
The arrests were made based on complaints from victims, and the suspects were apprehended from various locations across the Kathmandu Valley.Post Report
Police have arrested six individuals accused of defrauding victims of Rs8.5 million under the false pretext of sending them abroad for lucrative overseas employment. The suspects were apprehended following complaints from victims who were promised jobs in various countries.
The arrested individuals include Saru Pariyar from Arughat-4, Gorkha, who was residing in Kathmandu Metropolitan-16; James Rana from Belauri-3, Kanchanpur, living in Tokha-3; Rekha Tuladhar from Kirtipur-6; Rabi Khanal from Nilkantha-9, Dhading, residing in Kathmandu-16; Lalit Bahadur Iwaram from Sirijanga-1, Taplejung, residing in Budhanilkantha-8; and Dipesh Subba Limbu.
Among the accused, Saru is alleged to have taken Rs250,000 from a victim promising to send them to Australia, while James took Rs300,000 for a job in Croatia. Rekha allegedly received Rs1.32 million for a job in Japan, Rabi collected Rs1.4 million for a position in the USA, and Lalit and Dipesh defrauded victims of Rs5.3 million, promising employment in the United States.
The arrests were made based on complaints from victims, and the suspects were apprehended from various locations across the Kathmandu Valley by a team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office.
The police have transferred them to the Foreign Employment Department in Tahachal, Kathmandu, for further investigation.
