Police launch investigation after detainee escapes custody

A detainee at the Hariwan Area Police Office in Sarlahi escaped from custody on Saturday afternoon. Ram Ayodhi Mukhiya, a resident of ward 9 of Barahathawa Municipality, who was held on drug-related charges, fled from his detention cell.
Superintendent of Police Rabindra Bahadur Singh said that Mukhiya was quickly apprehended after the escape, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
In light of the escape, concerns have been raised regarding security measures at the police office. Four personnel, including the detention management officer and the duty sentry, have been recalled to the District Police Office in Siraha for further inquiry.
