Detainee dies during treatment in Mahottari

A detainee at the Jaleshwar Prison in Mahottari has died while undergoing treatment.
Nisaj Sunuwar, 30, of Kamalamai Municipality-7 in Sindhuli, had been sent to judicial custody six months ago by the Mahottari District Court on drug-related charges. He passed away on Sunday morning, according to the Mahottari District Police Office.
Jaleshwar Prison spokesperson Ravin Chandra Thakur said Sunuwar was rushed to Jaleshwar Hospital at 8am after experiencing discomfort but died during treatment. The hospital confirmed cardiac arrest as the cause of death.
Sunuwar’s body is currently at the Provincial Hospital in Jaleshwar. Deputy Superintendent of Police Santu Jaiswar said that the body will be handed over to his family following a post-mortem.
