Security personnel engage in rescue operations.Kedar Shiwakoti
Two people died, and eight others are missing after a landslide buried homes in ward 3 of Doramba Sailung Rural Municipality, Ramechhap, on Saturday night.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Pradeep Kumar Singh, chief of the District Police Office, Ramechhap, confirmed that the bodies of two victims, including a child, were recovered from the landslide debris.
Initial reports indicate that heavy rainfall triggered the landslide, which swept away four houses in Tokarpur Lekhkharka. The landslide also destroyed a concrete bridge over the Dhaigaun river, which connected wards 2 and 3 of the rural municipality.
Rescue operations are facing challenges due to damaged roads leading to the affected village, making it difficult for authorities to reach the site. Police have arrived at the landslide-hit area, but further details on the extent of the damage are still awaited.
