A four-month-old son of Ranbir Tamata, a resident of Hapri in ward 3 of Naugad Rural Municipality, died when their house caught fire at his house at around 7:30 pm on Wednesday.
According to Inspector Govinda Bhandari of the District Police Office, the fire started due to an electrical short circuit caused apparently by the use of energy-intensive appliances like electric heaters.
It took several hours for the police and locals to control the fire. All the possessions inside the house were also destroyed, and an evaluation of the damage is going on, said police.
