Nestled within the Shey-Phoksundo National Park, Shey-Phoksundo Lake is a stunning gem situated in the remote Ringmo village of Dolpa district. Perched at an elevation of 3,611.5 metres above sea level, the lake is renowned for its remarkable depth of 650 metres and unique Y-shape, stretching 4.8 km in length and 1.6 km in width. It is cradled by the majestic Kanjiroba Himal.

Reaching Ringmo village from Dunai, the district headquarters, requires a two to three-day trek. The journey begins with a hike from Dunai to Chepka on the first day, followed by a second-day trek to Saijol and the Phoksundo waterfall. On the third day, visitors arrive at the breathtaking Phoksundo Lake. While there are a few steep inclines, the trail is mostly manageable. Despite limited mobile network coverage, hotels along the way offer good Wi-Fi connectivity.

The lake is a year-round destination for travellers, but the ideal time to visit is between October and November, when the weather is most favourable.
