Daunne section of Narayanghat–Butwal road to shut for 4 hours daily
Vehicles barred from using the road between 11am and 3pm until April 13; night closure planned from April 14.
The Daunne section of the Narayanghat–Butwal road along the East-West Highway will remain closed for four hours daily starting Wednesday to allow for road expansion works.
According to District Police chief Yadav Dhakal, vehicular movement will be halted from 11am to 3pm daily until April 13. From April 14, the road will be closed nightly from 11pm to 5am for 15 days to continue construction.
During the closure, eastbound vehicles will be stopped at Dumkibas, Arun Khola, and Chormara, while westbound traffic will be stopped at Bardaghat. Police have urged travellers to use the Kaligandaki Corridor Road via Gaindakot as an alternative route.
The Narayanghat–Butwal road section, which includes the 14-kilometre stretch through Daunne hill, is currently under expansion. Over 18,000 vehicles pass through this section daily. Due to the ongoing construction, travel time across the 14-kilometre stretch has exceeded three hours, with heavy dust and frequent traffic jams worsening the situation.
