India gifts Covid-19 PCR test kits to Nepal
The kits will enable Nepal to carry out 30,000 tests, the Indian embassy says.Post Report
India on Sunday handed over Covid-19 polymerase chain reaction test kits to the government of Nepa.
Indian Ambassador to Nepal Vinay Mohan Kwatra, on behalf of the government of India, handed over Pathodetect Covid-19 Qualitative RT-PCR Test Kits manufactured by Mylab Pune to Health Minister Bhanubhakta Dhakal,” the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu said in a statement. “This will enable the ministry to carry out 30,000 Covid-19 tests.”
The consignment is a gift from the people of India to the people of Nepal, the statement said.
Earlier on April 22, Ambassador Kwatra had handed over 23 tonnes of medicines to the government of Nepal.
“Gifting of medicines and test kits manifests continuing cooperation of our leaders and people of two countries to prepare, act and fight together the common challenge of the Covid-19 pandemic,” the embassy added. “These initiatives stem from the Prime Minister of India’s video conference with SAARC Leaders on 15 March 2020," the statement reads.
