Several local units in the Mahottari district have decided to close schools for a week due to a rise in temperature.
Six local units–five municipalities and one rural municipality, in the district, issuing a notice, have informed that all schools in the area will be closed for a week.
The notice issued jointly by Jaleshwor, Manrashisawa, Bardibas, Bhangaha and Gaushala municipalities and Samsi Rural Municipality stated that the schools will be closed until June 9 and the holidays will be adjusted in the annual holidays.
Bardibas Municipality Education Department Chief Ganesh Dahal informed that the decision to close schools in the area from Monday was taken as the students were suffering from the rise in temperature levels.
General lives have been affected after the mercury level crossed 40 degrees Celcius in several Tarai districts in the last week.
