Bhutanese King returns home after visiting Swayambhunath and Boudhanath in Kathmandu

Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck returned home on Friday after an unofficial visit to Nepal, where he paid homage at the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Swayambhunath and Boudhanath.
The Bhutanese monarch arrived in Kathmandu earlier in the day on his way back to Bhutan from India. He was welcomed at Tribhuvan International Airport by Foreign Minister Dr Arzu Rana Deuba.
During his visit, King Wangchuck offered prayers at Swayambhunath and observed the panoramic view of Kathmandu Valley from the hilltop stupa. Officials of the Swayambhu Management and Conservation Committee warmly received him upon his arrival at the site.
Following his visit to Swayambhunath, the King proceeded to Boudhanath Stupa, where he participated in traditional rituals and admired the stupa’s cultural and spiritual significance.
