Minister Kurmi resigns amidst controversy

Badshah Kurmi, minister for forest and environment of Lumbini Province, has resigned from his position following allegations surrounding the suspicious death and property misappropriation case of Nirmala Kurmi from Banke.
According to Dilli Bahadur Chaudhary, parliamentary party leader in Lumbini Province, Kurmi submitted his resignation to Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya on Tuesday. However, his resignation has not yet been accepted.
Kurmi faced widespread criticism since his appointment. The central leadership of the Nepali Congress reportedly instructed Kurmi to step down until the legal proceedings regarding the case were concluded.
Kurmi was elected from Banke 3 (b). He was appointed as a minister without portfolio on July 24 and minister for forest and environment on August 2.
Kurmi is currently under investigation for charges related to abduction and fraud. He has been accused of involvement in the kidnapping and disappearance of Nirmala Devi Kurmi.
