Tickets for SAFF Women’s Championship final ‘sold out’
This marks Nepal’s sixth appearance in the SAFF Women’s Championship final, yet the team is still chasing its first title victory.Post Report
All tickets for the SAFF Women’s Championship final between Nepal and Bangladesh have officially sold out. The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) took measures to directly oversee ticket sales after receiving complaints from spectators at the semi-final match between Nepal and India.
Despite the stadium’s capacity of 15,000, ANFA decided to release around 10,200 tickets, mindful of the overwhelming crowd seen at the semi-final. Of these, ANFA sold 5,100 tickets through general channels on Wednesday, while an additional 4,117 tickets sold earlier by Mount Everest Sports and Events Pvt. Ltd through Khalti were made available, as ANFA had already allotted these before terminating its contract with the agency. ANFA also reserved 1,000 VIP tickets, especially with the news that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli would attend, increasing demand for VIP passes.
Given the anticipated high turnout and for safety reasons, ANFA has decided to keep 20 percent of seats empty. Fans had lined up from early morning in hopes of securing tickets, but demand far outstripped supply.
Following issues at the Nepal-India semi-final, where tickets sold exceeded the stadium's capacity, ANFA cancelled its contract with Mount Everest Sports and Events and took ticket sales into its own hands. Ticket counters were set up at Jawalakhel grounds, ANFA Headquarters in Satdobato, and the Army Officers’ Club in Bhadrakali. Mount Everest Sports and Events had secured ticketing rights for Rs8 million, but over 20,000 fans had crowded into the 15,000-capacity stadium that day.
Ticket prices were set at Rs500 for general admission and Rs1,000 for VIPs. This marks Nepal’s sixth appearance in the SAFF Women’s Championship final, yet the team is still chasing its first title victory.
