Two arrested on charges of duping job seekers with US, Canada promises
Suspects allegedly collected over Rs11 million from victims before going out of contact.Post Report
Police have arrested two individuals on charges of fraudulently collecting money by promising to send people abroad for employment in the United States and Canada.
The arrested individuals are 25-year-old Bhuwan Karki, originally from Shuklaphanta Municipality-1 in Kanchanpur and currently residing in Tokha Municipality-6 and 42-year-old Nitesh Pokharel from Manohara Municipality-3 in Kathmandu.
Karki is accused of collecting Rs10 million from three victims by promising to send them to the United States, while Pokharel allegedly collected Rs1.2 million from four victims by promising jobs in Canada before being out of contact.
Based on complaints filed by the victims, the police team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office in Teku arrested both individuals from Kathmandu.
Karki has been sent to the Kathmandu District Police Range, and Pokharel has been transferred to the Department of Foreign Employment in Tahachal for further action.
