The westerly low-pressure system currently affects the country, bringing significant cloud cover to Sudurpashchim, Karnali, Lumbini, and Gandaki provinces, with the remaining regions also experiencing partial cloudiness, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division.
Thunderstorms and light rainfall have been reported in many areas of Sudurpashchim and Karnali provinces. The Division predicts that, this afternoon, most of Sudurpashchim, Karnali, Lumbini, and Gandaki provinces will remain mostly cloudy, with partial to moderate cloudiness in other areas. Thunderstorms and light to moderate rainfall are expected in the hilly regions of Sudurpashchim and Karnali, and in parts of Lumbini, Gandaki, and the Tarai of Sudurpashchim. The high hilly and Himalayan regions in these provinces may also experience light to moderate snowfall.
The Division has also warned that thunderstorms and light to moderate rainfall are expected in parts of Sudurpashchim, Karnali, and Gandaki provinces tonight, with some areas of the hilly regions in the rest of the country likely to receive light rainfall.
The weather bulletin released this morning further predicts light to moderate snowfall in the high hilly and Himalayan regions of Gandaki, Sudurpashchim, and Karnali provinces. The forecast also indicates that, in the next 24 hours, the same regions will likely face thunderstorms and light to moderate rainfall.
The Division has requested citizens to stay alert, especially those in high hilly and Himalayan regions, where there is a possibility of light to moderate snowfall, as these conditions could impact daily life, health, agriculture, roads, and aviation.
