Indian nationals arrested for illegal betting at NPL match in Nepal

Police apprehended four Indian nationals for allegedly running an illegal betting operation during the ongoing Nepal Premier League (NPL). The arrests were carried out at the Tribhuvan International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, where the tournament has been taking place since last Saturday.
The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) identified the accused as Suman Ghosh from Kolkata, Amit Yadav from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, and Sumanth Kumar and Brajesh Kumar from Saharsa, Bihar. They were reportedly using online betting platforms such as Sports Baji and Probo to organise gambling directly from the cricket ground.
The police seized six mobile phones and four Indian Aadhaar cards from the suspects. SP Hobindra Bogati, CIB’s spokesperson, confirmed that further investigations are underway to enforce Nepal’s laws against betting.
